Job summary

Dean Dorton’s Forensic and Valuation Services team seeks a qualified FVS Consultant to perform complex financial analyses and support expert testimony and advisory work. You will lead defined sections of engagements, interpret data, and mentor Associates to strengthen the practice.

You’ll develop expert reports, assist in courtroom exhibits, and help manage timelines, budgets, and client communication while expanding leadership and client-facing skills in a dynamic CPA firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
• CPA designation preferred or actively pursuing.
• Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in public accounting, valuation, consulting, or forensic accounting.
• Strong technical foundation in valuation methods, financial modeling, and forensic analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills.
• Experience collaborating with legal counsel, external auditors, or expert witnesses is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed business valuations for transaction, tax, financial reporting, and litigation purposes.
• Conduct forensic investigations involving fraud, economic damages, and financial misconduct.
• Analyze complex financial data, business operations, and tax filings to identify trends, risks, and key value drivers.
• Build and refine valuation and damages models using advanced Excel functions and financial modeling techniques.
• Assist in developing client deliverables, including expert reports, financial exhibits, and visual presentations.
• Conduct market, industry, and economic research using Capital IQ, PitchBook, and IBISWorld.
• Apply valuation methodologies (income, market, and asset-based) and document underlying assumptions.
