Job summary

Dean Dorton’s Forensic and Valuation Services (FVS) team provides expert analyses in forensic accounting, business valuation, and litigation support for client engagements. The FVS Consultant leads sections of engagements, analyzes financial data, and mentors Associates while expanding expertise in valuation and litigation support.

This role emphasizes client interaction, project execution, and continuous process improvement, with opportunities to develop leadership and courtroom-facing skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
• CPA designation preferred (or actively pursuing).
• Minimum of two to four years of experience in public accounting, valuation, consulting, or forensic accounting.
• Strong technical foundation in valuation methods, financial modeling, and forensic analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills.
• Experience collaborating with legal counsel, external auditors, or expert witnesses is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed business valuations for transaction, tax, financial reporting, and litigation purposes.
• Conduct forensic investigations involving allegations of fraud, economic damages, and financial misconduct.
• Analyze complex financial data, business operations, and tax filings to identify trends, risks, and key value drivers.
• Build and refine valuation and damages models using advanced Excel functions and financial modeling techniques.
• Assist in developing client deliverables, including expert reports, financial exhibits, and visual presentations.
• Conduct market, industry, and economic research using databases such as Capital IQ, PitchBook, IBISWorld.
• Apply valuation methodologies (income, market, and asset-based) and document underlying assumptions and rationale.
• Support expert witnesses and senior team members in preparing testimony and trial materials.
