Job summary

Dean Dorton’s Forensic and Valuation Services (FVS) team provides trusted insight through forensic accounting, business valuation, and litigation support. The FVS Consultant role leads sections of engagements, analyzes financial data, mentors Associates, and helps strengthen the practice through process improvements.

This position emphasizes communication with stakeholders, development of expert reports, and the ability to manage portions of projects while expanding leadership and client-facing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
• CPA, ASA, ABV, or CVA designation preferred (or actively pursuing).
• Minimum of two to four years of experience in public accounting, valuation, consulting, or forensic accounting.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed business valuations for transaction, tax, financial reporting, and litigation purposes.
• Conduct forensic investigations involving allegations of fraud, economic damages, and financial misconduct.
• Analyze complex financial data, business operations, and tax filings to identify trends, risks, and key value drivers.
• Build and refine valuation and damages models using advanced Excel functions and financial modeling techniques.
• Assist in developing client deliverables, including expert reports, financial exhibits, and visual presentations.
• Conduct market, industry, and economic research using databases such as Capital IQ, PitchBook, and IBISWorld.
• Apply valuation methodologies (income, market, and asset-based approaches) and document underlying assumptions and rationale.
• Support expert witnesses and senior team members in preparing testimony and trial materials.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
