Job summary

The State of North Carolina - Justice is seeking a Forensic Scientist II (S) for the State Crime Lab in Raleigh. You will perform toxicology casework on evidence from DWI and other investigations and prepare professional reports used in prosecutions.

You will be responsible for testifying as an expert witness, maintaining chain-of-custody, and contributing to a state-of-the-art laboratory that supports law enforcement across North Carolina.

Qualifications

• Four years of Forensic Toxicology Laboratory experience.
• Certification by the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT).
• Experience with Tandem Mass Spectrometry (MS/MS) and Time-of-Flight MS.
• Experience testifying as an expert in Forensic Toxicology.

Responsibilities

• Perform casework on toxicology evidence from DWI and non-DWI cases.
• Prepare written reports of analytical results and methodologies.
• Provide expert testimony in court as needed.
• Maintain rigorous documentation and quality control of analyses.
