Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Forensic Registered Nurse (RN) at St. Vincent Medical Center in a PRN capacity. The role provides professional nursing care to patients affected by crime, trauma, and violence, using trauma-informed assessment and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN, an active RN license, and may pursue SANE certifications and forensic nursing credentials within a year. This position may require travel within the system’s facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (required)
• Current RN license in the state you are working or covered by compact (required)
• Valid State Driver’s License (required)
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, required to obtain before direct patient care)
• SANE-A and SANE-P certifications obtained within one year
• GFN-C / AFN-C forensic nursing certifications obtained within one year

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment with care planning and evaluation.
• Administers medications safely per policy and practice standards.
• Serves as point of contact for patient care coordination across departments.
• Collaborates with medical, social services, and law enforcement teams.
• Participates in quality assurance and documentation in line with standards.
