Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Forensic Registered Nurse (RN) at St. Vincent Medical Center to provide specialized nursing care for patients affected by crime and trauma. The role integrates nursing science with forensic and public health knowledge to assess medical-legal needs and coordinate care.

The position requires a BSN, active RN license, SANE certifications (A/P) within one year, and AFN/GFN certification. Travel to various Mercy Health facilities is expected as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (required).
• Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required).
• SANE-A and SANE-P certifications (obtained in one year).
• GFN-C/AFN-C certification (obtained in one year).
• 2 years of RN experience (required).

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment and plan of care.
• Administer medications safely per policies.
• Coordinate patient care across hospital departments.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Participate in quality assurance and ensure documentation aligns with ANA/IAFN standards.
• Apply nursing process to assess and treat patients affected by trauma and violence.
• Provide education to patients and families on prevention and care.
• Travel to multiple hospital facilities within the system as needed.
