Job summary

Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services is seeking a Forensic Evaluator to provide forensic services to residents, including preparing annual review reports and offering testimony as required by law. The role involves coordination with multiple state offices and partners and supports telework with regular collaboration with staff.

The position requires a doctoral degree in psychology (APA-accredited), licensure in Virginia, and experience in courtroom testimony and risk

Qualifications

  • Graduate of APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Virginia Clinical Psychologist License.
  • Experience with giving courtroom testimony is required.
  • Risk assessment experience.
  • Familiarity with ethical professional standards in inpatient settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide forensic services to residents and oversee annual review reports under § 37.2-910.
  • Provide testimony for those reports as requested by the Office of the Attorney General.
  • Interface with the Office of SVP Services, the Office of the Attorney General, Virginia State Police, and Community Corrections.
  • Telework position requiring effective remote work with regular communication with partner agencies.
