The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services seeks a Forensic Psychologist (Psychologist III) at the Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Danville, VA. The role focuses on forensic assessment, diagnosis, and court-related expertise, with opportunities to work with individuals involved with legal processes.

Requirements include a doctoral degree in psychology, APA internship, licensure as a Clinical Psychologist in Virginia, and state-forensic certification.

Competenze

• Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-accredited program or equivalent.
• Predoctoral internship accredited by APA or equivalent for licensure eligibility.
• Experience with forensically involved individuals with mental illness.
• Virginia licensure as a Clinical Psychologist within 12 months of hire and maintain.
• DBHDS forensic certification through ILPPP within 12 months of hire.

Mansioni

• Conduct forensic assessments and provide diagnostic evaluations.
• Develop treatment plans and provide psychotherapy for varied clinical presentations.
• Prepare treatment update reports for courts, jails, and attorneys.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team within a 72-bed state psychiatric hospital.
• Present/testify in court when required.
