Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) invites applications for the Psychologist III–Forensic Evaluator at Austin State Hospital. The role performs advanced forensic evaluations, 46B/46C/Chapter 55 competency assessments, and violence risk evaluations to support court proceedings and community safety.

This exempt, full-time position requires doctoral training in psychology, state licensure (or reciprocity), and experience supervising staff.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a Psychologist by the State of Texas or reciprocity.
• Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program.
• Minimum of one year supervised experience in psychological services.
• Experience conducting forensic evaluations and reports with forensic populations in inpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Conducts 46B/46C/Chapter 55 competency evaluations and violence risk assessments.
• Develops and coordinates forensic activities and programs; provides expert consultation and testimony.
• Supervise others and graduate trainees; coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Participates in disaster response and COOP as needed.
