Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Forensic Mental Health Clinician for Northern State Prison in Newark, New Jersey. The role reports to the Clinician Supervisor and involves specialized psychological testing and assessment of clinical needs for adult inmates.

Key Responsibilities

• Arrive at DSM‑IV diagnoses with precision and accuracy through psychological testing and evaluation sessions.
• Provide crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, and psycho‑education programming as clinically indicated to assigned inmates. Involve inmates and Department of Corrections staff in developing achievable and understandable psychosocial treatment plans.
• Manage caseload demands effectively while maintaining both quality of care and security requirements.
• Assume overall case‑management responsibilities for assigned inmates, including coordination of treatment and liaison with community agencies; maintain appropriate inmate records.
• Demonstrate competency in psychological testing and in recognizing the unique needs and behaviors of adult inmates and seniors.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D. in Psychology with relevant experience that includes training in psychological testing and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience, including graduate training, in a behavioral health care or related setting.

Certifications & Licenses

• Licensed in the State of New Jersey as a practicing psychologist or possessing an unrestricted permit to practice psychology in New Jersey.
• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle for travel between sites.

Compensation

Salary ranges from $92,001 to $131,265. Position status: Full Time. Working hours: 37.50 per week. Daily shift: Day. Work arrangement: Full onsite.
