Job summary

Labcorp in St. Paul, MN is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team. The role supports urine, blood, and other specimen testing, with training provided for new grads.

Work schedule is Tue–Sat, overnight shifts with potential overtime, and opportunities to develop core lab skills with GC, GC/MS, HPLC, and LC/MSMS instruments. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Proficient with computers and laboratory information systems.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to work overtime and pass color blindness screening.

Responsibilities

• Receive urine, oral fluid, and blood specimens for testing; evaluate specimens and test orders; determine priority of work and batches to maintain acceptable turn-around-time
• Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy; recognize and correct errors and unusual results; interpret results to produce a final report
• Work with GC, GC/MS, HPLC, LC/MSMS instruments
• Maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory equipment; perform scheduled and as needed maintenance and quality control checks
• Deliver quality patient care through diagnostic testing while maintaining efficiency
