Job summary

City of North Port seeks a qualified Crime Scene Investigator to process crime scenes, collect and preserve evidence, and document findings. You will work under the supervision of the Forensic Supervisor and support court proceedings with accurate reports.

Applicants should have 3+ years in the field; an associates in forensics is preferred, and state IAI CSI certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire. This is a full-time, on-site position with exposure to hazardous environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associates in forensics preferred.
• 3 years of crime scene experience preferred.
• Must obtain IAI CSI certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Process crime scenes and collect, photograph, and preserve evidence.
• Maintain chain of custody and prepare written reports.
• Conduct latent fingerprint and chemical processing.
• Testify in court regarding evidence collection and processing.
• Operate photography and lab equipment; assist in scene reconstruction.
