Robson Forensic, Inc. is seeking a meticulous Forensic Engineering Laboratory Technician to manage evidence intake, operate laboratory instrumentation, and support field investigations.

This role requires maintaining chain-of-custody and documenting testing samples while coordinating equipment and off-site inspections. The position is based in Lancaster, PA, with on-site lab work and occasional field assignments.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; MATLAB, CAD, or 3D printing desirable.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication equipment (mills, lathes, cutting, welding) is desirable.
  • Must be able to work onsite at the lab with occasional field assignments.
  • Clean background screen, valid driver’s license, ability to drive passenger cars/light trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure rigorous chain-of-custody for all samples from field collection through laboratory testing and final disposition.
  • Maintain, inspect, and replenish field investigation equipment including cameras, lighting, PPE, and evidence kits.
  • Photograph evidence and lab work for investigation reports and exhibits.
  • Manage calibration schedules, maintenance programs, and procurement planning for lab equipment.
  • Assist with calibration verification, maintenance logs, and calibration record-keeping; maintain workspace cleanliness and safety compliance.

Job Summary: The Forensic Engineering Laboratory Technician provides essential laboratory support for our testifying experts across all disciplines. The individual manages evidence intake, maintains chain‑of‑custody documentation, obtains and documents testing samples and exemplars, operates laboratory instrumentation, and manages and fulfills equipment requests for off‑site inspections and testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure rigorous chain‑of‑custody for all samples from field collection through laboratory testing and final disposition
  • Maintain, inspect, and replenish all field investigation equipment including cameras, lighting, PPE, evidence collection kits, and scene documentation tools
  • Photograph evidence and laboratory work systematically for inclusion in investigation reports and demonstrative exhibits
  • Manage laboratory equipment calibration schedules, equipment maintenance programs, and capital equipment procurement planning
  • Assist with equipment calibration verification, maintenance logs, and calibration record‑keepingMaintain laboratory workspace cleanliness, organization, equipment logs, and safety compliance per laboratory safety plan and OSHA requirements.
  • Other related projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical field
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite, experience with any of the following is desirable: MATLAB, CAD software, and 3D printing.
  • Office Skills: Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Abilities: Hands‑on experience and ability to operate mills, lathes, cutting equipment, welding equipment, and other fabrication equipment and processes is desirable.
  • Work Style: Must be able to work onsite at our lab with occasional field assignments as needed.
  • Other:A clean background screen, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to drive passenger cars and light trucks.
