Job summary

Alaskajobs is inviting applications for an Autopsy Technician in Anchorage to support the State Medical Examiner's forensic team with postmortem examinations. Responsibilities include photography, radiology, specimen collection, fingerprinting, and evidence preservation.

Minimum qualifications include an associate's degree with anatomy/physiology coursework or two years of morgue/forensic laboratory experience. Candidates must have a valid Alaska driver’s license and pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree (or equivalent post-secondary education) supplemented by six semester (eight quarter) credits in human anatomy and/or physiology.
• Two years of technical experience in a morgue, hospital, medical, forensic, or research laboratory, or similar setting with necropsies or anatomical specimen collection.
• Alternative: a combination of post-secondary education with anatomy/physiology coursework and technical morgue experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in forensic postmortem examinations under the supervision of State Medical Examiner Forensic Pathologists.
• Conduct photography, radiology, and collection of postmortem specimens.
• Perform fingerprinting and collection and preservation of evidence.
