Job summary

Requirements include an AS in Mortuary Science or higher, relevant experience, and a valid California driver license.

Qualifications

• One year of experience handling, transporting, and preparing deceased persons for post-mortem examinations and release.
• An Associate of Science Degree in Mortuary Science or higher.
• Valid California Class C Driver License or equivalent.
• Physical ability to lift 25 pounds or more and perform demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare decedents for post-mortem examinations, verify identity, and set up equipment and solutions.
• Assist pathologists during autopsies, including opening cavities and handling specimens.
• Assist in minor laboratory work and maintaining proper storage of specimens.
• Maintain proper chain of custody for evidence and comply with safety policies.
• Sterilize autopsy room, equipment, and tools and manage personal effects of decedents.
• Provide testimony in judicial proceedings when required.
