Job summary

Pauley Construction, LLC is seeking a Foreman for telecom aerial and utility construction in Phoenix, AZ. The role directs 2–8 person crews, ensuring safety, production, and quality across trenching, aerial, drilling, and conduit operations.

Responsibilities include coordinating field activities, maintaining detailed records, assisting with permits and site safety, and training workers. Must have CDL and pass background checks; overtime and travel may be required.

Job description

This position includes work direction, coordination and oversight of a specific crew(s) ranging from 2-8 employees or subcontractors. The position is responsible for overall safety, materials, reporting, customers, leadership, employee communication, and productivity measures. It manages crews overseeing operations such as Trench & Plow, Aerial, Drilling/Bore, Asphalt or Conduit, and machine operation. The role must interface with customers and city inspectors, coordinate pre-construction meetings, keep detailed safety and production records, perform as-builds, and lead all crews. The ideal candidate will also be a skilled excavation operator and assist with permits, site safety, and calling locates.

This position must possess excellent customer service skills, resolve day-to-day conflicts positively, and complete professional reporting, time sheets, job cost, material slips, purchase orders, and equipment maintenance. The individual must assume responsibility for overall safety, job sites, customers, OSHA, DOT, and company policy and procedures.

What You’ll Do
  • Shoveling, digging, handling and operating construction equipment.
  • Excavation operations including operating equipment and transportation of equipment if needed.
  • General oversight over work direction within a crew or a group of sub-contractors.
  • Assisting in securing site; employees and safety.
  • General maintenance.
  • General utility installation/repair.
  • Assists with as-builds and ensures attention to detail and high quality work.
  • May assist supervisor in administrative tasks relating to hiring and interviewing employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
  • To be 18 years of age or older.
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
  • Valid state driver's license (cannot be provisional), including an acceptable driving record.
  • MUST have a CDL license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
  • Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
  • May be required to work over-time, after hours, on weekends, or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.
  • May include working nights and holidays as needed.
  • May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business needs.
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.
Additional Qualifications
  • Minimum, 2 years of work-related experience pertaining to utility construction, telecommunications or laborer related work.
  • Computer skills preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience to direct workflow and produce high quality results.
  • Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to make common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or drawing. Ability to deal with and understand problems involving different variables in many varied situations involving employees, customers and vendors.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages and area). Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures. Ability to write information including reports. Ability to speak effectively to customers, coworkers, vendors and the public.
Physical & Safety Requirements and the Working Environment
  • Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee may be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping a moderate amount of time while on shift.
  • The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate.
  • Employees performing functions of this position are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog.
  • Employees performing these job functions are required to lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens.
  • Employees may be exposed to toxic or corrosive chemicals as well as moving machinery parts and pieces.
  • Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include but are not limited to: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed.

Pay Range: The Foreman Telecom Aerial hourly wage range is $28.00 - $38.00 depending on experience.
