Job summary

VCI Construction is seeking a Telecom Aerial Foreman in California to oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial telecom systems, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. You will guide on-site crews and support less experienced team members.

The role requires at least 3 years of related experience, a valid DOT medical card, and willingness to travel for storm response on short notice. A CDL-A is preferred and you’ll work with various heavy equipment on job sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Must be able to pass DOT physical and obtain medical card.
• At least 3 years of related work experience; pole climber certification preferred or willingness to become certified.

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial telecom systems per codes and customer requirements.
• Safely operate bucket truck, digger derrick, and excavators.
• Keep work areas safe and traffic flowing.
• Climb heights using hooks and ladders.
• Use hand and power tools; guide and support others.
• Travel for storm response on short notice.
• Complete daily work orders and crew checks documenting productivity and safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure successful installation of fiber/telecom cables, materials, or support structures according to relevant codes, regulations, and customer requirements.
• Safely use equipment like bucket truck, digger derrick, excavators
• Ensure work areas are safe and that traffic flows smoothly while on the job
• Safely work at heights using climbing hooks and ladders
• Safely use hand tools and power tools like wrenches, drills, and saws
• Provide guidance and support to others as needed
• Be ready to travel for storm response on short notice
• Complete daily work orders and crew checks to document productivity and safety compliance
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• At least 3 years of related work experience
• To be a certified pole climber or be willing to become certified
• CDL Class “A” driver license is preferred

Physical Abilities & Exposures

• Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level, at heights in confined spaces and alone in remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, use ladder, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift objects greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: use keyboard and mouse

The wage range for Foreman Telecom Aerial is $27.00 - $32.00.
