Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school education with related manufacturing or shipbuilding experience.
  • Associate degree preferred with 3–4 years in manufacturing, shipbuilding, or military settings.
  • Experience leading semi-skilled and skilled trades with responsibility for training and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, assign, coordinate and evaluate trades personnel by skill and experience.
  • Train staff to improve quality and productivity; implement practical action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with drawings, procedures, and safety standards.

The Role

Leaders sought. Immediate need for leaders who can drive Accountability in a Professional, Civil environment. Must be able to demonstrate ability to lead with: Fairness, Consistency, Respectfulness and Transparency.

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc.

Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts. Candidates must have experience with Microsoft Office Suites (Excel and Word).

Additional common management responsibilities as listed in Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001 within command media (SBMC 0001) and applicants should review the Charter and policies and procedures before applying for position.

Must Have

-OR-

High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience

-OR-

Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience

Internal candidates must have a Superior Attendance and Disciplinary Record.
Candidate cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences in the last 180 day period.
Candidate cannot have any safety DANS that result in a disciplinary layoff in last 180 day period.
Candidate cannot have more than 2 total DANS in the last 180 day period (excluding lost tool).
Must be willing and able to work any shift assigned.

Bachelors/Apprentice OR High School and 6 years related Trade experience
