Job summary

HII is seeking a Bay Foreman for Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS to coordinate material movement on the shop floor, offload deliveries, protect materials, and coordinate loading to ships or assemblies. The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to work multiple shifts. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Candidates should have manufacturing/shipbuilding experience or related technical credentials, plus a strong safety and attendance record. This is a full-time on-site position.

Qualifications

  • Must have a post-secondary credential (BS/Apprentice, or technical/associate level) with related manufacturing/shipbuilding experience.
  • Superior attendance and disciplinary record required for internal candidates.
  • No more than 3 unexcused absences in the last 180 days.
  • No safety DANS leading to layoff in last 180 days.
  • No more than 2 DANS in last 180 days (excluding lost tool).
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate material movement in assigned areas.
  • Coordinate and accept material deliveries at the job site and offload trucks and trailers.
  • Ensure materials are protected and notify customers of deliveries.
  • Relocate material as the ship progresses through building stages.
  • Coordinate material loading to the ship or assembly and align equipment for back shifts.
  • Ensure required support equipment and real estate are available.
  • Assist Capacity Planning in relocating jigs, fixtures and portable buildings.
  • Monitor container contents and route excess or out-of-sequence materials to proper storage areas.

The Role

Bay Foreman are responsible for the coordination of material movement in their assigned areas. Responsible for coordination and acceptance of material deliveries at their job site (offloading of trucks and trailers). Assure materials are properly protected. Notify customers of deliveries. Relocate material as the ship progresses through the building stages. Coordinate the material loading to the ship or assembly. Direct the movement of equipment and align equipment for back shifts as required. Assure scheduled and projected lifts are ready. Assure needed support equipment and or material is available. Assure needed real estate is clear and available. Assist Capacity Planning in relocating jigs, fixtures and portable buildings. Monitor trash/steel containers for proper contents on the ships/unit areas and dockside. Monitor and ensure that excess, deleted or out of sequence materials are identified and routed to the proper storage areas such as the warehouse or IPS.

Must Have
  • BS/Apprentice
  • High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience
  • Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience
  • Internal candidates must have a Superior Attendance and Disciplinary Record.
  • Candidate cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences in the last 180 day period.
  • Candidate cannot have any safety DANS that result in a disciplinary layoff in last 180 day period.
  • Candidate cannot have more than 2 total DANS in the last 180 day period (excluding lost tool).
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift assigned.
