Description

Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for Foreman at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for leading a crew of skilled trade personnel in an area of the manufacturing organization with responsibility for fabrication and/or assembly of product for the construction of ships. The Foreman will oversee safety and security procedures, implement organizational policies and goals, measure performance to budget and support the management in budget analysis and adherence, assist in production control projects, manage work pack in accordance with production control plan, plan overtime and schedule resources as required, interface with management to revise project and facility objectives, and understand and work within the union contract requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee safety and security procedures.
  • Implement organizational policies and goals.
  • Measure performance to budget and support the management in budget analysis and adherence.
  • Assist in production control projects.
  • Manage work pack in accordance with production control plan.
  • Plan overtime and schedule resources as required.
  • Interface with management to revise project and facility objectives.
  • Understand and work within the union contract requirements.
  • Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 1 to 30 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years experience in a manufacturing or shipbuilding environment or two (2) years of prior leadership/supervisor experience

SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of trade-specific tools, equipment, and safety protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Team leadership and conflict resolution
  • Time management and task prioritization
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to train and mentor apprentices/journeymen
  • Familiarity with project management software or basic MS Office

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.
