Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding is seeking a supervisor to lead semiskilled and skilled trades in Pascagoula, MS. You will oversee assignments, train staff, and ensure quality and safety across manufacturing and assembly processes.

The role emphasizes strict adherence to drawings and procedures, coordination with cross-functional teams, and maintaining productivity. A background in shipbuilding or manufacturing with 4+ years’ experience is required, with willingness to work rotating shifts.

  • 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, or military experience.
  • Associate degree in a trade/technical field with 3 years relevant experience.
  • Internal candidates must have Superior Attendance and Disciplinary Record.
  • Willing to work any shift.

The Role

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semiskilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc. Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts.

Additional common management responsibilities as listed in Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001 within command media (SBMC 0001) and applicants should review the Charter and policies and procedures before applying for position.

Must Have
  • BS/Apprentice
  • High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience
  • Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience
  • Internal candidates must have a Superior Attendance and Disciplinary Record.
  • Candidate cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences in the last 180 day period.
  • Candidate cannot have any safety DANS that result in a disciplinary layoff in last 180 day period.
  • Candidate cannot have more than 2 total DANS in the last 180 day period (excluding lost tool).
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift assigned.
Nice to Have
  • Bachelors/Apprentice OR High School and 6 years related Trade experience
  • 6 or more years in the carpentry department or equivalent field of work.
  • Bachelors degree per/erred but not required.
  • The ability to efficiently navigate computer based programs including but not limited to microsoft word, excel etc.
  • Experience as a workleaderman and/or performing Supervisor Re-Rate duties.
  • Applicant must possess comprehensive knowledge of scaffolding, blocking, shoring, and all discrete carpentry work.The ability to navigate Mars, Supergate, Proto and Command Media is a required skill. Basic qualifications includes having the ability to interact with other crafts, programs, and shops. Must demonstrate managerial, analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Depending on work area, specific technical, medical, and physical requirements may apply.
