Job summary

PowerGrid Services, LLC is seeking a reliable supervisor for electrical distribution projects. You will lead Linemen, Apprentices and Groundmen, ensuring safe, efficient execution and adherence to plans and schedules.

Responsibilities include supervising equipment operations, reading plans, enforcing safety practices and coordinating with site leadership to achieve project milestones in various locations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • First Aid Certification is required.
  • CPR Certification is required.
  • Knowledge of Miss Utility laws helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision & technical guidance to Linemen, Apprentices and Groundmen performing maintenance & construction on electrical distribution projects.
  • Communicate and enforce safety requirements and best practices.
  • Read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and scopes of work.
  • Supervise the operation of bucket trucks and digger trucks, and wire pulling equipment.
  • Supervise gloving on voltages up to 40 KV and set up work zones safely.
  • Coordinate with General Foremen, Superintendents, PMs and crews to follow detailed schedules.
  • Ensure readiness for field operations and troubleshoot during restoration of service.

Job description

  • Provide direct supervision & technical guidance to Linemen, Apprentices and Groundmen performing maintenance & construction on all electrical distribution and associated equipment projects.
  • Communicate, demonstrate and enforce safety requirements and best practices.
  • Possess comfort level with using new technologies (mobile devices/apps) and/or show willingness to learn.
  • Understands the use and care of all required personal protective equipment.
  • Knows the minimum approach distance for the voltage involved.
  • Understands the proper wear and care of FR clothing.
  • Maintains a safe working environment for all employees under their supervision.
  • Read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and scopes of work.
  • Communicate directly with General Foremen, Superintendents, Construction Managers, Project Managers, Line Crews and other project personnel as required.
  • Understand and follow detailed construction schedules.
  • Qualified to supervise gloving on all voltages up to 40 KV.
  • Supervise the operation of a material handler bucket truck and a digger truck.
  • Supervise the set up and operation of all wire pulling equipment.
  • Knows all basic transformer hook-ups (single and three phase).
  • Supervise the cover-up of the work zone for the work involved.
  • Has excellent knowledge of rigging and wire pulling tools.
  • Supervise the setting of poles in an energized zone.
  • Supervise complex jobs.
  • Supervise the phasing of circuits and checking of rotation.
  • Supervise the restoration of service and troubleshooting of problems during restoration.
  • Properly fill out an as-built report.
  • Determine if skill level of employee is correct for the employee’s classification.
  • Adequate understanding of switching procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Requires Class A level experience installing and maintaining overhead and underground power lines.
  • Valid CDL A is required.
  • First Aid Certification is required.
  • Competency in CPR and pole top rescue is required.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet is required. Prefer capability to work at heights higher than 60 feet.
  • Experience with digger derricks, bucket trucks, trenchers, and groundwork with utility crews is required.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Email, Abacus, Excel, KPA)
  • Competent in operating ALL equipment including track bucket/digger.
  • Certification in safe traffic control practices and public safety techniques per state and local regulations are required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of laws regarding Miss Utility.
  • Complete commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Must be able to pass drug, alcohol, and background checks.
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination.
  • Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Able and willing to work for extended periods in various locations.
  • Able and willing to work in all types of weather environments including inclement weather.
  • Able and willing to work overtime when required.
  • In-depth understanding of the utility industry and operations.
