Job summary

Rush Enterprises in El Paso, TX is hiring a Diesel Shop Foreman Technician to lead a team of diesel mechanics, plan repairs, assign work by skill level, and ensure high‑quality, on‑time service for our customers.

You will mentor technicians, review progress, coordinate with the Service Manager, and drive operational excellence on the shop floor, while maintaining safety, attendance, and productivity standards in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of related shop and technician supervision experience.
• Insurability with Company’s carrier.
• ASE Master Certification or equivalent manufacturer certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and motivate qualified diesel mechanics.
• Assist diesel mechanics in developing their skills with support of the Service Manager.
• Schedule repair work and assign technicians to segments matching their skill level.
• Ensure repairs are assigned fairly among mechanics.
• Provide technical support for mechanics when necessary.
• Check progress of each repair order throughout the day.
• Maintain high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks, with spot checks for thoroughness.
• Road test vehicles to verify work quality.
• Monitor mechanics’ daily productivity and payroll records.

Foreman Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and motivate qualified diesel mechanics.
• Assist diesel mechanics in developing their skills with support of the Service Manager.
• Schedule repair work and assign technician(s) to mechanical segments that match their skill level to ensure quality.
• Ensure that all repairs are assigned to mechanics in an equal and fair manner.
• Provide technical support for mechanics when necessary.
• Check progress (W-I-P) of each repair order throughout the day.
• Maintain high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks. Conduct periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
• Road test vehicles to quality-check work performed.
• Monitor mechanics’ daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Two years’ related shop and technician supervision experience.
• Insurability with Company’s carrier.
• PLUS IF - ASE Master Certification program; Diamond Certification Program; Cat, Cummins, Eaton, Fuller, or other appropriate manufacturer certifications.
