Dick Anderson Construction, Inc. seeks a Foreman to oversee construction sites, crews, and trade contractors on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The role reports to the Superintendent and requires carpentry expertise and strong site leadership.

Responsibilities include planning manpower, scheduling materials, supervising work, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety and quality on site. Tools and on-site coordination are essential to deliver projects on time and within specs.

Qualifications

  • Previous construction experience is required.
  • Knowledge of quality control, cost control, job site safety, building codes, stud layout, and rough framing
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Proficiency in building construction including concrete, rough and finish carpentry.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations for construction
  • Strong communication skills and good math and analytical skills
  • Valid driver’s license and/or reliable means of transportation to job site locations.
  • Must provide own basic hand tools; employer provides specialty tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions in English.

  • Supervises, trains, guides, and directs job site work crews.
  • Oversees the maintenance of equipment and tools on the job site.
  • Provides excellent customer relations and works with the Owner and Subcontractors.
  • Oversees productive work by crews and maintains paperwork.
  • Keeps as-built drawings current and legible.
  • Provides daily job site updates and material needs to Superintendent.
  • Performs various carpentry tasks including framing, roofing, windows/doors, and finishing work.
  • Assists with loading/unloading materials and maintaining a clean site.
  • Performs demolition duties of existing structures as needed.

Job description

The Foreman is responsible for overseeing the construction job site, employees, and trade contractors during the building process. They will perform a variety of carpentry and general building construction tasks at various residential, commercial, and/or industrial job site locations. This position works under the direct supervision of the Superintendent.

Qualification Requirements:
  • Previous construction experience is required.
  • Knowledge of quality control, cost control, job site safety, building codes, stud layout, and rough framing
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Proficiency in building construction to include:
    • Concrete
    • Rough and finish carpentry
    • Additional building crafts necessary throughout the construction process
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations for construction
  • Strong communication skills and good math and analytical skills
  • Valid driver’s license and/or reliable means of transportation to job site locations.
  • Must provide own basic hand tools.
    • Employer provides specialty tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions in English.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Plans ahead and schedules the manpower and job site materials required.
  • Tracks job site production on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Supervises, trains, guides, and directs job site work crews.
  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of equipment and tools on the job site.
  • Provides excellent customer relations and works in a cooperative manner with the Owner and Subcontractors.
  • Responsible for overseeing that productive work is being performed by work crews.
  • Keeps paperwork organized including receipts, shipping tickets, etc.
  • Maintains as-built drawings, keeping them current, concise, and legible.
  • Supplies daily lists to the Superintendent with job site updates and material needs.
  • Performs a variety of carpentry tasks including initial stud layout for construction sites, concrete form layout, setting floor joists, framing floors, building subfloors, building/erecting walls, installing protective sheeting, installing roof trusses, framing and hanging windows/doors, and performs finishing work to including installing inside trim pieces, sanding, staining, and/or painting.
  • Assists with loading/unloading materials and supplies at job sites.
  • Performs housekeeping and keeps work area clean throughout the project and removes trash and debris.
  • Performs demolition duties of existing structures as needed.
Non-Essential Job Functions:
  • Operates forklift to move materials only if forklift trained/certified.
  • May drive a company vehicle to run errands or pick up supplies as needed.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
Physical Demand Classification:
  • Foreman is a Heavy Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Heavy Dutyinvolves exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds continuously to move objects.
