Job summary

PUMA is seeking a Footwear Designer 2 for its Performance Running division in the United States. You will translate athlete insights, biomechanics, and emerging technologies into distinctive, high-performing footwear, spanning race day, speed, cushioning, stability, and trail.

You will collaborate with athletes and our global product creation team from brief through commercialization, delivering innovative, commercially viable products with a strong design storytelling focus.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Industrial / Product Design or related field.
2–4 years of professional footwear design experience in performance running or related category.
Portfolio demonstrating original performance concepts and commercialization-ready products.

Responsibilities

Own design execution from brief to commercialization for Performance Running footwear.
Interpret briefs with Product Line Management to align athlete needs and commercial priorities.
Research and generate multiple concept solutions across midsole, outsole, upper, and materials.
Communicate design intent through boards, sketches, AI-generated design, prototypes, and digital models.
Create detailed tech packs, upper specs, and factory-ready design documentation.
Use 2D/3D tools to increase clarity and speed of concepts for validation and production.
Balance athlete benefit, design intent, cost, manufacturability, and sustainability in products.
Incorporate seasonal color, materials, and performance trends into a recognizable running expression.
