Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a cafeteria food service worker. You will assemble, portion, label and restock foods, provide welcoming customer service and help maintain sanitation and warewashing duties.

Shifts are mixed 4-8 hours, with schedules such as 10:30 AM–7:00 PM or 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, every other holiday and weekends. A signing bonus may be available; final offer depends on hours, experience and internal equity.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of two years high school.
• Ability to carry out standardized instructions and procedures.
• Reads, writes and speaks English; basic weights and measures.
• Able to stoop, lift 30 pounds and push/pull 300 pounds.
• Employees must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

Hiring Range: $19.00 - $31.55 (based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week). Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Assembles, portions, labels, restocks foods for cafeteria services. Provides appropriate and hospitable service to customers. Maintains sanitation of cafeteria. Performs warewashing duties. Assists in training of other food service workers.

Major Responsibilities

• Prepares area for food serving. Sets up steam tables and service areas with hot food items, salads, desserts, fruits, breakfast foods, etc. Prepares and portions salads and desserts. Slices meats and prepares deli items i.e. sandwiches, mixed salads, cheese, etc. Replenishes food items as necessary. Makes coffee. Participates in cafeteria special events.
• Serves food in prescribed quantities according to food service standards.
• Takes temperatures before and during meal service.
• Informs production if a menu item is running low.
• Stocks cold supply before, during and after each meal service.

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education: Required:

• Equivalent to completion of two years high school.

• Understands basic mathematical functions.
