Chartwells K-12 in Portland, IN is hiring for a full-time Food Unit Lead to oversee dining operations and staff. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with on-the-job training. This role emphasizes quality service, food safety, and teamwork in a school food service setting.

Responsibilities include supervising food preparation and service, assigning tasks, and ensuring compliance with sanitation standards. Prior food service and supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality customer service with attention to detail.
• Oversees preparation and service of food and beverages per standards for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control.
• Helps plan menus.
• Ensures timely, efficient meal service; supervises serving of meals.
• Responds to customer complaints in person and via email.
• Trains employees; assigns and coordinates work to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service.
• Determines work procedures, prepares schedules and expedites workflow.
• Maintains daily/weekly/monthly reports (inventory, cash, production, payroll/time-keeping).
• Manages cash handling as per procedures.
• Orders food and supplies from approved sources.
• Directs sanitation and safety of facility and staff per standards and regulations.
• Develops sanitation schedule and ensures adherence by staff.
• Issues written and oral instructions.
• Assists in selecting and orienting staff; oversees training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
