Job summary

Chartwells K-12 is hiring a full-time Food Unit Lead in Fairland, IN. The role coordinates the activities of other food-service staff and ensures a high-quality dining experience for students and staff. You will oversee food preparation, service, and safety, train staff, and manage schedules and reports. Prior kitchen management and K-12 experience preferred; Monday–Friday schedule with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Prior kitchen management experience is required.
• K-12 kitchen experience preferred.
• Full-time schedule: Monday–Friday 6:30 AM–3:00 PM.
• Location: Triton Central Schools, 4920 West 600 North, Fairland, IN 46126.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities of other food-service staff.
• Oversee preparation and service of food in accordance with standards.
• Ensure timely meal service; supervise serving of meals.
• Train employees; assign and coordinate work to promote efficiency.
• Determine work procedures, prepare schedules and expedite workflow.
• Use systems for daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory, payroll and timekeeping.
• Order food and supplies from approved sources.
• Maintain sanitation and safety per company standards and regulations.
• Develop sanitation schedules and supervise cleaning of kitchen and dining area.
• Issue written and oral instructions.
• Assist in selecting and orienting employees; staff training in areas of responsibility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
