Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services is seeking a dedicated food service professional to coordinate activities of dining staff and ensure an enjoyable, safe dining experience for customers and staff.

The role involves planning menus, supervising meal service, handling customer inquiries, and leading sanitation and safety programs in a campus facility. The position may require flexibility during breaks or location shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality customer service with attention to detail.
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation and service of food and beverages according to company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control.
  • Help plan menus.
  • Ensure timely, efficient meal service; supervise serving of meals.
  • Respond to customer complaints in person and via email for electronic complaints.
  • Train employees; assign and coordinate work to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
  • Use systems for daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory, cash reports, production records, payroll and timekeeping.
  • Responsible for proper cash handling per the Food Accounting Manual.
  • Order food and supplies from approved sources or purveyors.
  • Direct and participate in sanitation and safety of the facility and employees.
  • Develop sanitation schedule and ensure adherence for cleaning of kitchen and dining area and washing of utensils and equipment.
  • Issue written and oral instructions.
  • Help select and orient employees; oversee staff training in areas of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help plan menus.
  • Ensure timely, efficient meal service; supervise serving of meals.

  • Train employees; assign and coordinate work of employees to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
  • Use proper systems for completion of required daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory‑cash reports, production records, payroll and time‑keeping.
  • Responsible for proper cash handling as established by the Food Accounting Manual (deposits – petty cash – change funds).
  • Order food and other necessary supplies from approved sources or purveyors.
  • Direct and participate in the overall sanitation and safety of the facility and employees in accordance with company standards and government regulations.
  • Develop sanitation schedule and ensure food‑service employees adhere to the schedule for cleaning of kitchen and dining area and washing of kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Issue written and oral instructions.
  • Help select and orient employees; oversee staff training in areas of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Notes

Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work such as winter and summer breaks. Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company’s behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year‑round, potentially at a different location during break periods.
