Job summary

Texas Health Rockwall is seeking a Food Service Worker Lead to oversee daily dietary operations in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will supervise staff, ensure patient meal service quality, and coordinate tasks to maintain safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent preferred
• 2 years relevant experience in food service required
• FHC - Food Handlers Certificate within 30 days
• Healthcare food service, hospitality, restaurant, or large-scale food service operations experience requested
• Prior lead, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred
• Experience with patient meal service, retail operations, dish room functions, and food prep areas
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements
• Experience training and mentoring staff
• Demonstrates leadership with ability to motivate and support team members
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate daily workflow
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to safe, clean, organized workplace
• Ability to provide coaching and constructive feedback

Responsibilities

• Lead staff in daily activities; assign and check work and maintain workflow
• In supervisor/manager absence, lead team in designated areas
• Assist with training of staff including in-services
• Maintain HACCP and health dept standards; record temperatures and take action
• Keep a clean, organized work area per health department and facility requirements
• Suggest and implement improvements to aid cost control, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
• Provide feedback and assist with events planning and setup/cleanup

Work hours: 40 hours weekly, Days, Including every other weekend.

What You Will Do

• Written and oral communication skills. Must be able to operate computer software applications. Customer service skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment is required. Demonstrates thorough critical thinking and is a team player. Ability to count and handle cash.
• Leads staff in daily activities and works with them as needed, assigns and checks work and maintains workflow. In the absence of the Supervisor or Manager leads team in designated areas.
• Assists with training of staff including the coordination of required in-services.
• Maintains food safety requirements according to HACCP and health department standards in the performance of all duties. Records refrigerator temperatures in areas of responsibility and takes appropriate action if there are inadequate temperatures. Maintains a clean and orderly work area, ensuring compliance with health department and facility requirements. Suggests and assists with implementation of improvement opportunities to assist with cost control, maintain/improve efficiency and improve customer satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
• Provides feedback and assists with special events planning and set-up/clean-up.
