Job summary

The New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, NH is seeking a full-time Food Service Worker to assist in preparing and serving nutritionally balanced meals per a prescribed menu and safety standards.

Shifts are 5:30am–2:00pm with varying weekends and an additional $2/hour for weekend work. Total compensation includes benefits for full-time staff and a comprehensive state package.

Qualifications

• MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 8th grade education and ability to perform duties as described.
• Preferred experience in food service, waiter/waitress, dining room or related roles.
• Must maintain clean personal health and sanitation habits.

Responsibilities

• Participates in preparation for and setup of trays for food distribution.
• Sets up for meal service, takes orders, serves residents, and cleans dining rooms.
• Operates dishwashing and related equipment; handles food disposal.
• Stockes work areas and maintains cleanliness of kitchens and dining spaces.
• May assist cooks and dietary staff with food preparation and tray assembly.
• Assists with training new employees and supports shift leads.

Responsibilities

Participates in the preparation for, and the setup of, individual trays for food distribution.

Sets-up for meal service, takes food orders, serves residents and cleans ladies lounge and Tarr dining rooms.

Operates dishwashing machine, food disposal, toaster and heat on demand unit.

Assists with the passing of trays, collecting of trays and cleaning the tables and chairs on the LEDU units, Welch units and areas served for guest meal service.

Stocks all work areas and unit kitchenettes.

Cleans all floor areas in dining rooms, kitchen and dishwashing areas.

May be involved in cooking or otherwise preparing foods as directed by cook, chef, or dietary management team.

Exercises responsibility for training new employees.

Performs extra cleaning assignments as directed by shift leaders or dietary management team.

May be involved in procedures for receiving, documenting, and tray preparation relating to both regular and special diets.
