  • Rotating Weekends and Holidays
  • Could Start as Early as 11:30 AM
  • Roles may include cashiering, serving food, or food preparation
Overview

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital's staff includes full-time academic faculty, community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, and a house staff of residents, interns, and fellows. Recognized for excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The Department of Food and Nutrition serves patient, retail, and catering service areas across both campuses, including patient meals, Clinical Nutrition Services, Queeny Tower Restaurant, three cafeterias, and three coffee bars. The department aims to serve patients, visitors, and staff with excellent customer service, providing nutritional support to aid in recovery. Opportunities are available for all skill levels, from entry-level to management positions.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

To provide quality food service to cafeteria customers, ensuring quick service and courteous interactions. Responsibilities include food preparation, setting up service areas, food portioning, serving, sanitation, and assisting customers.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and friendly customer service, adhering to food safety and portion guidelines.
  • Prepare work area and ensure supplies are organized before, during, and after shifts.
  • Clean and sanitize work stations and utensils.
  • Use equipment and materials safely and properly.
  • Assemble meals accurately according to menus, diet orders, and protocols.
Minimum Requirements

Experience: Less than 2 years

Supervisor Experience: None required

Preferred Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED
