Overview

The Department of Food and Nutrition at Barnes-Jewish Hospital manages Patient, Retail, and Catering Service areas across both campuses, including patient meals, Clinical Nutrition Services, Queeny Tower Restaurant, three Cafeterias, and three Coffee Bars. The department aims to serve patients, visitors, and employees with excellent customer service, providing nutritional support to aid recovery and health. Opportunities are available for all skill levels, from entry-level to licensed or certified management positions.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Responsible for performing various food service functions such as setting up service areas with food, utensils, and garnishments; food portioning; serving; sanitation; operating cash registers; assembling patient trays; and assisting with customer requests. Food preparation may also be required at some locations.

Responsibilities
  • Provides professional and friendly customer service, adhering to food safety and portion guidelines.
  • Assembles meals according to the menu, diet orders, and protocols.
  • Prepares work area with supplies and organizes before, during, and after shifts.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work stations and utensils.
  • Uses equipment and materials safely and properly.
Minimum Requirements

Experience: No experience required.

Supervisor Experience: No experience required.

Preferred Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED.
