Job summary

FOOD SERVICE WORKER I (Partial Year)

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week; may include evening and weekend work as needed

Salary: $16.587 / hr (as of 7/1/25)

Position Summary

This is a benefits eligible, partial year position (9-11 months of the year).

Responsibilities
  • Assisting cooks and other kitchen personnel in cleaning/preparing/serving foods, washing dishes, serving from a serving line, cleaning tables, and sweeping floors.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and neatness in preparing, handling and serving food, and serving patrons in a pleasant and courteous manner.
  • Care and use of food service equipment including meat slicer, mixing machine, steam cookers and beverage machines.
  • Performing related work as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a department sponsored food safety training program within 6 months of hire (required).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in food service or kitchen operations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies
  • Knowledge of safe food handling practices in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods.
  • Physical ability to move loads up to 50 lbs, handle repetitive motion, reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, kneel, and work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals, cleaning equipment, dust, fumes, and odors.
Physical Demands

Move loads up to 50 lbs, unloading and stocking products; perform push/pull activity with products weighing up to 30 lbs; repetitive motion of wrists, arm, and shoulder; hand and finger coordination; reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, kneel; work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals, cleaning equipment, dust, fumes, and odors; long hours standing.
