Job summary

Shopcgx is seeking a Food Service Worker (Dish Washer) INT 6827 at MWR Kodiak, Kodiak, AK. The role is intermittent with a pay rate of $17.37/hour.

Responsibilities include setting up service areas, cleaning, basic food prep, and dishwashing while following supervisor instructions and safety guidelines. Minimum qualifications include ability to read and follow instructions, and obtaining a Food Handler’s Certificate.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• In serving area: set up glasses, silverware, condiments and beverages; clean tables and wipe crumbs.
• In food preparation area: peel, cut, dice fruits and vegetables; operate basic prep equipment.
• In dishwashing area: scrape, pre-rinse, load dishwasher; hand-wash if required; store clean dishes.
• Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas; assists with waste disposal and cleanliness across areas.
• Receives instructions from supervisor and performs duties consistently with prescribed methods.
• Adheres to safety regulations, uses safety equipment, reports hazards or incidents.

Duties

• In the serving area: Sets up glasses, silverware, butter, condiments, salads, desserts, bread, and cold beverages on the serving counter as instructed. Cleans tables of paper, trash, or soiled linens, and wipes tables with a towel to remove crumbs or other food particles. Removes soiled dishes from tables and transports them to the dishwashing area.
• In the food preparation area: Cuts, scrapes, chops, dices, and peels fruits and vegetables. Operates electric can opener, electric potato peeler, etc.
• In the dishwashing area: Separates food waste and trash. Scrapes and pre‑rinces dishes with water to remove food particles before washing. Loads dishes in dishwasher; stacks and stores dishes. May hand‑wash dishes following prescribed steps. Stacks and stores clean dishes.
• Clears cooking and service equipment. Scrapes, cleans, scrubs, washes, or wipes equipment such as ranges, ovens, fryers, pressure cookers, steam kettles, and broilers. Drains and cleans coffee and tea urns. Scrubs and scours worktables. Clears grease traps in sinks. Removes garbage to collection points. Cleans woodwork, windows, and display counters. Sweeps, mops, waxes floors. Polishes dining‑area furniture. Carries supplies between storeroom, kitchen, and dining area and runs errands.
• Receives specific instructions for new tasks from supervisor, after which incumbent independently completes duties in the same way each time.
• Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, injuries, occupational illnesses, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• No previous work experience required but must have the ability to read and understand written material and follow instructions. Must be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines.
• Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate and/or complete food handler’s training.
• Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six months experience in a food service facility.
