Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX is seeking a Food Service Worker to deliver patient meals and maintain sanitation standards in a hospital setting. You will assist with tray assembly, stock rotation, dishwashing, and cart sanitation while adhering to state sanitation guidelines.

Successful candidates will read and comprehend, complete a pre-employment assessment, and have basic typing/computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Must successfully complete the pre-employment assessment.
• Prefer successful completion of Step One of the Certified Dietary Manager course, The Food Service Worker.
• Must be able to read and comprehend.
• Typing and basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers food trays to patient’s room, and provides service to include: pouring of beverages, removing plastic covering from food, and setting the food tray so that the patient is able to reach and eat the food.
• Check patient trays before leaving the kitchen area to assure that all items ordered are on the tray. No more than one error per day is accepted.
• Gather and deliver floor stock. Rotate stock when putting away in the refrigerator on the nurse unit.
• Washes dishes, pans, and utensils for patients, cafeteria and catering.
• Sanitizes patient’s carts daily.
• Empties trash in the food service area.
• Assures that the Dietary Department meets the State, Medicare, The Joint Commission and other regulations.
• Regularly attends and actively participates in department meetings.
• Other duties assigned

Position: FOOD SERVICE WORKER

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required:

• Will be subjected to cold when entering refrigerator and freezer as well as fumes from chemicals, cooking odors, gases and odors from patient rooms.
• Potential hazards from cuts from knives and meat slicer and/or burns from cooking and heating surfaces.
