Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services, located at Univ. of Maryland – Baltimore County, is seeking a Food Service Worker / Cashier. The role includes cashiering duties and general food service work while upholding sanitation standards in preparation, service and dining room facilities.

The position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities with compensation of $16.23 per hour. Schedule varies; details determined during interview and on-site training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Prior food-service and cashier experience required.
• Willingness to be trained on site.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food by washing, peeling, cutting, seeding fruits and vegetables and weighing ingredients.
• Moves food and equipment between stations, stove and refrigerator following safety guidelines.
• Stores food according to wrapping, dating and rotation procedures.
• Maintains cleanliness of work areas, equipment and utensils.
• Ensures compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
• Prepares and serves food using approved recipes, maintaining proper quality and portion control.
• Serves customers in a friendly, efficient manner and handles complaints courteously.
• Communicates relevant information to supervisors.
• Processes sales transactions through the cash register and records purchases accurately.
• Handles payments, provides change and issues receipts.
• Follows procedures for issuing cash refunds.
• Manages cash drawer, ensuring compliance with overage/shortage policies.
• Replenishes condiments, beverages and supplies, keeping the service area clean.
