Role Overview

The Food Service Worker serves as a cafeteria and/or delicatessen/bakery worker, assisting in the preparation, presentation, and serving of specialty meats, delicacies, preserved foods, cheeses, salads, breads, and sweets. Responsibilities include weighing, pricing, wrapping foods, preparing displays, greeting customers, taking orders, and answering basic questions about specialty foods. The role involves manual tasks in the kitchen or dining area with light to moderate physical effort, performed according to established procedures.

Primary Duties

• Set up self-serving lines and portion food according to instructions.
• Prepare hot and cold sandwiches, trays, salads, and rotisserie chicken using prepared ingredients and routine steps.
• Refill and maintain food and beverage stations, including cold bars, pastry cabinets, and condiment areas.
• Clean work areas, utensils, equipment, and tables; remove garbage; mop floors and wipe surfaces.

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of counters, trays, dishes, and display areas; inspect and clean equipment.
• Work varied shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Ensure sanitary conditions of equipment and work areas.
• Perform ware-washing and maintain order in pot and pan areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of food service experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong customer service skills required.
• Neat, well-groomed appearance required.

Physical Demands

Regularly sit, use hands, reach, and communicate; occasionally stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
