Job summary

Avera Gregory Hospital in South Dakota is seeking a dedicated food service worker to join our hospital kitchen team. You will prepare and serve meals for patients and guests, ensuring adherence to dietary restrictions and quality standards.

This role involves cleaning, stocking, and operating kitchen equipment, with alternating shifts and weekend/holiday coverage. We offer startup PTO from day one, retirement matching, and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize food items for patients and guests.
• Serve meals according to dietary and menu requirements.

• Stock storerooms, refrigerators, and supply areas using FIFO.
• Operate dish machine and kitchen equipment safely.
• Handle register and cash if needed.
• Assist with meal service and patient dining support.

Location: Avera Gregory Hospital; Worker Type: Regular; Work Shift: Day/Evening/Weekend/Holiday; Shift (United States of America); Pay Range: The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience. $17.50 - $21.50.

Position Highlights Shift times: 6am-2:30pm, 8:30am-5pm & 11:30am-8pm (you'd work some of each shift) + Every other Weekend/Holiday.

A Brief Overview Helps provide quality customer meals through snack and meal assembly, service, and cleanup. Assist with meal service activities.

What you will do

• Prepare and organize assigned food items efficiently and accurately for patients and other customers.
• Serve food items in accordance with diet, specifications and menu requirements.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, dishes, pots/pans, floor mats, floors, and work areas following proper procedure.
• Stock storerooms, refrigerators and work areas with supplies using first in, first out principle and appropriate dating.
• Operate dish machine and kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• May work the register, close out register and counts money.
• Properly place money and money drawer in designated location.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience: High School or GED Equivalent One to six months of food service experience.
