Job summary

Avera Marshall Hospital is seeking a PRN Food Service Worker to support patient meals and nourishment services. You will prepare and assemble meals, serve items according to diet and menu, and maintain clean, organized food preparation areas.

Day shifts are 6-1:30, 7-2:30 or 7-3:30; night shift is 4:30-7:30pm. This role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and compliance with hospital standards to ensure timely delivery of meals to patients and customers.

• The individual must be able to work the hours specified and perform all essential job functions with reliable communication and cooperation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize assigned food items efficiently and accurately for patients and other customers.
• Serve food items in accordance with diet, specifications and menu requirements.
• Cleans and sanitizes equipment, utensils, dishes, pots/pans, floor mats, floors, and work areas following proper procedure.
• Stocks storerooms, refrigerators and work areas with supplies using first in, first out principle and appropriate dating.
• Operates dish machine and kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• May work the register, close out register and counts money. Properly places money and money drawer in designated location.

Education

High School or GED Equivalent

One to six months of food service experience

A Brief Overview

Preferred Education, License/Certification, Or Work Experience

• High School or GED Equivalent
• One to six months of food service experience
