Job summary

Avera Gregory Hospital in Gregory, SD is hiring a full-time food service assistant to help provide meals to patients and guests. You will prepare and serve items, stock and maintain a clean kitchen, and assist with meal service according to diet specifications.

You will work shifts including 6am-2:30pm, 8:30am-5pm, and 11:30am-8pm, with some weekend/holiday coverage. A High School diploma or GED is required; 1–6 months of food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• The candidate must be able to work the hours specified and communicate effectively with others; visual acuity and hearing are important for service duties. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize assigned food items efficiently and accurately for patients and other customers.
• Serve food items in accordance with diet, specifications and menu requirements.
• Cleans and sanitizes equipment, utensils, dishes, pots/pans, floor mats, floors, and work areas following proper procedure.
• Stocks storerooms, refrigerators and work areas with supplies using first in, first out principle and appropriate dating.
• Operates dish machine and kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• May work the register, close out register and counts money. Properly places money and money drawer in designated location.

A Brief Overview

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• High School or GED Equivalent
• One to six months of food service experience
