Job summary

Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a Regular, Afternoon Shift team member to help provide quality patient meals and service. You will assemble meals, serve items per diet and menu requirements, and maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and service areas.

You will join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to compassionate care. Experience is helpful, but the role emphasizes reliability, teamwork, attention to safety, and adherence to CMS and hospital

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform each essential job function with basic visual acuity and effective communication.
• Prior food service experience is helpful but not required.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and follow safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize assigned food items for patients and customers.
• Serve food items according to diet, specifications and menu requirements.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and work areas following procedures.
• Stock storerooms and work areas with supplies using FIFO and dating.
• Operate dish machine and kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• May work the register and handle cash through the closing process.

Pay Range: $17.50 - $21.50

A Brief Overview

Helps provide quality customer meals through snack and meal assembly, service, and cleanup. Assist with meal service activities.

What you will do

• Prepare and organize assigned food items efficiently and accurately for patients and other customers.
• Serve food items in accordance with diet, specifications and menu requirements.
• Cleans and sanitizes equipment, utensils, dishes, pots/pans, floor mats, floors, and work areas following proper procedure.
• Stocks storerooms, refrigerators and work areas with supplies using first in, first out principle and appropriate dating.
• Operates dish machine and kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• May work the register, close out register and counts money. Properly places money and money drawer in designated location.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• High School or GED Equivalent
• One to six months of food service experience
