Job Description

The Food Service Worker at Correction Reception Center supervises inmates to ensure that meals and food items are prepared according to production plans. This role involves training workers, assigning and coordinating work to optimize efficiency, and maintaining sanitation and safety standards. Responsibilities may vary by location based on client needs and business requirements.

Starting Pay: $17/hour

Job Responsibilities

1. Adhere to and review preparation and production guidelines, including logs.
2. Supervise inmates in food prep and tray assembly.
3. Ensure timely meal service and compliance with guidelines.
4. Participate in meal preparation and serving.
5. Distribute recipes and train inmates on proper cooking techniques.
6. Ensure proper portions and dietary requirements are met.
7. Review daily population counts with staff.
8. Follow security policies; secure storage areas and keys.
9. Manage kitchen tools, equipment, and sanitation schedules.
10. Assist with inventory, ordering, and storage of food items.
11. Follow food handling, storage, and HACCP policies.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years old.
• Preferred: 1+ year in food prep or related work.
• Preferred: Supervisory experience.
• Experience with inmates is a plus.
• Ability to motivate and supervise in a correctional environment.
• Must obtain a food safety certification.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
• Follow safety policies and maintain security clearance.

This role may involve physical activities such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Uniforms and PPE may be required.
