Summary

Performs a variety of food service tasks including meal assembly, meal delivery, dishwashing, and handling metal ware.

Employment Details

• Type: Part-time
• Shift: Rotating Shift

Responsibilities

• Set up and clean tray line assembly areas, including hot and cold food items, silverware, dishes, and beverages.
• Stock food and non-food items at work stations.
• Operate tray assembly stations, read tray tickets, and ensure correct food delivery.
• Load trays onto delivery carts and operate elevators for delivery to patient care units and outpatient clinics.
• Transport food service supplies to patient rooms and outpatient clinics.
• Remove trays from patient rooms, bus trays, and operate dishwashers and cleaning equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all metal ware, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Maintain food service elevator, work areas, and equipment.
• Prepare simple foods like sandwiches and salads as needed.
• Maintain records such as tray delivery and pick-up schedules.
• Transport department trash as needed.
• Maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships with staff and patients, approach conflicts constructively, and help resolve issues.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient, physician, employee, and visitor information.
• Follow safety protocols to ensure personal and coworker safety, report hazards.
• Behave in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System.

Qualifications

• Some prior food service experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, perform math calculations.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods (up to 100% of the workday).
• Lift and push up to 50 lbs.
• Pay close attention to detail for up to 50% of work time.
• Effective communication skills with staff and patients.
