Job Description

The Food Service Worker at Allen Oakwood Correctional Facility supervises inmates to ensure that meals and food items are prepared according to production plans. This role involves training workers, assigning and coordinating work to promote operational efficiency, and maintaining sanitation and safety standards. Responsibilities and requirements may vary by location based on client needs.

Starting Pay: $15-$18/hour

Job Responsibilities

1. Adhere to preparation and production guidelines, review logs.
2. Supervise inmates in food prep and tray assembly.
3. Ensure timely meal service and compliance with guidelines.
4. Participate in meal preparation and serving.
5. Print and distribute recipes.
6. Train inmates on recipes and cooking procedures.
7. Ensure proper portions and dietary requirements are met.
8. Obtain and review daily population counts.
9. Follow security policies, secure storage areas.
10. Return and secure kitchen tools, equipment, keys.
11. Prepare work and sanitation schedules, oversee adherence.
12. Assist in inventory, receiving, storing, and requisitioning supplies.
13. Participate in meal assembly and storage following HACCP policies.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years old.
• At least one year of food prep or related experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with inmates is a plus.
• Ability to motivate and supervise team members.
• Must obtain a food safety certification.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
• Follow safety procedures and policies.
• Qualify for and maintain correctional security clearance.

Physical Demands

This role may require lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking, standing, and wearing uniforms or PPE.
