Job summary

Avera Oahe Manor in Gettysburg, SD, is seeking a Regular full-time kitchen helper to assist with light food preparation, plating, stock, and catering support. You will work in a multidisciplinary team dedicated to moving health forward for patients.

You will follow safety, sanitation standards, and menu guidelines, participate in daily cleaning, and help maintain stocked work areas. The role requires good communication and reliability, with weekend/holiday shift rotation.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Equivalent.
• Resident Dining Feeding Assistant Program - Avera.
• Six months related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items for assigned area.
• Meet standards established by Leader for food preparation, quality, sanitation, and efficiency.
• Make recommendations to Leader for all menus.
• Complete daily assigned cleaning in accordance with approved standards.
• Stocks refrigerator, storerooms, work areas with appropriate labeling and dating procedures, food temperature record keeping, breaking down boxes.
• May operate dish machine, garbage disposal, steam tables, coffee makers, toasters, food processor, espresso machine, and coffee grinder.
• Serves meals/beverages with attention to temperature maintenance.

A Brief Overview

Responsible for light food preparation, plating food, putting away storeroom stock, catering functions, and assigned cleaning of the kitchen.

What You Will Do

• Meet standards established by Leader for food preparation, quality, sanitation, and efficiency.
• Make recommendations to Leader for all menus.
• Complete daily assigned cleaning in accordance with approved standards.
• Stocks refrigerator, storerooms, work areas with appropriate labeling and dating procedures, food temperature record keeping, breaking down boxes.
• May operate dish machine, garbage disposal, steam tables, coffee makers, toasters, food processor, espresso machine, and coffee grinder. Induction ranges.
• Serves meals/beverages with attention to temperature maintenance.
