Job summary

Avera Health is seeking a Dietary Services worker to assist in light food preparation, plating meals, stocking storerooms, and helping with catering and cleaning of the kitchen. The role emphasizes quality, sanitation, and efficient service for patients and staff.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team in a hospital setting, with a schedule including weekends and holidays as needed. Training and mentorship opportunities are available within the Avera system.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent required.
• Six months related experience and/or training preferred.
• Ability to read and follow procedures and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items for assigned area.
• Meet standards for food preparation, quality, sanitation and efficiency.
• Stock storerooms and refrigerators with proper labeling and dating.
• Clean assigned areas and operate kitchen equipment as needed.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewResponsible for light food preparation, plating food, putting away storeroom stock, catering functions, and assigned cleaning of the kitchen.What you will doPrepare food items for assigned area.Meet standards established by Leader for food preparation, quality, sanitation, and efficiency.Make recommendations to Leader for all menus.Complete daily assigned cleaning in accordance with approved standards.Stocks refrigerator, storerooms, work areas with appropriate labeling and dating procedures, food temperature record keeping, breaking down boxes.May operate dish machine, garbage disposal, steam tables, coffee makers, toasters, food processor, espresso machine, and coffee grinder. Induction ranges.Serves meals/beverages with attention to temperature maintenance.Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified.
