SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of food service tasks in the areas of meal assembly, meal delivery, dishwashing, and metal ware.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Set up and clean up of tray line assembly area, including hot and cold food items, silverware, dishes, napkins, salads, desserts, breads, and beverages.
2. Prepare work stations by stocking food and non-food items and equipment as necessary.
3. Work on assembly tray line stations and read tray tickets to provide correct food items.
4. Load trays on delivery carts.
5. Operate elevator to deliver and pick up carts to patient care units and outpatient clinics.
6. Transport food service supplies to patient rooms and outpatient clinics as needed.
7. Remove trays from patient rooms and handle soiled trays.
8. Clear all patient and customer serving trays.
9. Operate mechanical dishwasher, clean equipment, and sanitize kitchen areas and utensils.
10. Maintain cleanliness of all metal ware, pots, pans, and utensils.
11. Maintain food service elevator, work areas, and equipment as scheduled.
12. Assist in preparing simple foods like sandwiches and salads if required.
13. Maintain records such as tray delivery and pick-up schedules.
14. Assemble and transport department trash as needed.
15. Foster good rapport and cooperative relationships with staff and patients, approaching conflicts constructively.
16. Maintain confidentiality of patient, staff, and hospital information.
17. Perform duties safely, report hazards, and adhere to safety protocols.

Education: Not specified

Experience: Some food service experience preferred

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read, write, and perform math calculations
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods (up to 100% of shift)
• Ability to lift and push up to 50 lbs.
• Attention to detail and concentration for up to 50% of work time
• Effective interpersonal communication skills with staff and patients
