Job summary

Foster Elementary School in Hingham, MA is seeking a part-time Food Service Technician to prepare, cook and serve breakfast and lunch for students. You will also operate the Point of Sales register and contribute to a nutritious, safe meal program.

Hours: 20 hours per week, 4 hours per day, five days a week. Applicants should be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 45 pounds, work with heat, and handle kitchen equipment; ServSafe certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand for prolonged periods while preparing meals.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
• Must be able to work around heat and operate kitchen equipment.
• Experience with a computerized POS is a plus.
• ServSafe Food Handler certification is a plus.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and adhere to food safety procedures.
• Produce nutritious meals and snacks to maintain and grow program participation and satisfaction for students and staff.
• Ensure proper serving temperature and palatability of food prior to serving.
• Ensure proper portion control to minimize waste.
• Must be able to handle cash and transactions quickly and appropriately.
• Follow procedures to maintain inventory levels and rotate stock.
• Maintain sanitation in the facility following safe food handling practices.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager or the Food Service Director/Assistant.

Job summary

Food Service Technicians prepare, cook and serve breakfast and lunch for students. Food Service Technicians also operate the Point of Sales register.

Hours

Qualifications

• Able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods.
• Able to lift materials weighing up to 45 pounds.
• Able to be exposed to heat while cooking and preparing foods.
• Has manual dexterity to handle knives and other pieces of kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers and steamers.
• Hazards may include, but are not limited to cuts from knives and slicers, burns.
• Experience with a computerized point of sales system would be a plus.
• Current Certificate in Servsafe food handler would be a plus.
• Partake in any other Professional Development scheduled by the Director and required by the USDA under the Professional Standards Requirements.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
