Job summary

Hingham Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Technician to prepare, cook and serve breakfast and lunch for students at the High School and Foster Elementary. The role includes operating the Point of Sales register and maintaining food safety standards.

Qualifications include standing for long periods, ability to lift up to 45 pounds, and experience with POS systems. Citizenship/residency or work visa is required. This 4hr/day, 5day/week position offers hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Stand for prolonged periods during shifts.
• Lift materials up to 45 pounds as needed.
• Exposure to heat while cooking and preparing foods.
• Handle kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, mixers, steamers.
• Hazards may include cuts, burns, and related risks.
• Experience with a computerized point of sale system is a plus.
• ServSafe food handler certification is a plus.
• Participate in professional development per USDA standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and food safety procedures.
• Produce appealing, nutritious meals and snacks for students and staff.
• Ensure proper serving temperature and palatability before serving.
• Follow portion controls to prevent shortages and minimize waste.
• Handle cash and transactions efficiently.
• Maintain inventory levels and rotate stock.
• Uphold sanitation standards in the facility.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager or Directors.
